Biographical Sketch

Ven.Chan Master Hsin Tao was born in a farming village in upper Myanmar (Burma) in 1948 to ethnic Chinese parents, and was left orphaned and impoverished at an early age. Having been taken in by the remnants of ROC military units operating along the border of Yunnan, China, he was brought to Taiwan in 1961.

Encounters the compassion of Guanyin Bodhisattva (Avalokitesvara) and resolves to dedicate his life to the practice of Buddhism

1973
Ordains and embarks of a long period of solitary asceticism

1983
Undertakes a two-year fast in the Fahua Cave on Fulong Mountain

1984
Establishes LJM

1993
Establishes LJM Charity Foundation

2001
Inaugurates the Museum of World Religions (MWR) on November 9th, which was set as World Religious Harmony Day

2002
Establishes the Global Family for Love and Peace (GFLP) and the Triyana Buddhist college

2003
Establishes the Triyana Buddhist College

2016
Establishes Maha Kusala Yama Monastery Elementary School in Naung Mon, Myanmar

2017
Initiates University of Life and Peace preparation plans
