Myanmar Sangha Delegation Visits Ling Jiou Mountain, Strengthening Dharma Bonds Across Borders

United by the Dharma, a sacred bond transcends both language and borders. A 20-member delegation from Myanmar—comprising elders, bhikkhus, and bhikkhuni abbots from 10 monasteries—visited Ling Jiou Mountain (LJM) on the morning of March 28. The group toured Sheng Shan Sanctuary and LJM FuCheng, and called on LJM Founding Abbot, Grand Master Hsin Tao. This gathering of monastics from different nations and traditions, brought together by the Buddha’s teachings, serves as a powerful testament to the idea that "Dharma knows no borders, and the Sangha is one family." It was a profound and moving demonstration of the Dharma’s enduring strength.

The delegation arrived at Sheng Shan Sanctuary at 10 A.M. Despite the language barrier, the monastics connected through anjali (joined palms) and soulful eye contact, as the Buddha’s teachings flowed naturally with every step across mountains and seas. As a Guanyin bodhimanda that embodies the triyana tradition (where all three major Buddhist legacies converge), LJM welcomed the visitors to the Golden Buddha Hall. There, they paid humble tribute to the three Golden Buddhas by offering lamps, fresh flowers, and ceremonial parasols. They chanted sutras in prayer for the Dharma light to illuminate the ten directions, protecting world peace and ensuring the well-being of all sentient beings across every land.

Following that, the delegation visited LJM FuCheng for a guided tour featuring AR technology, immersive visuals, and interactive spatial narratives. These elements guided the group toward a deeper understanding of Ling Jiou Mountain's Spiritual Ecology and Four-Stage Buddhist Education. Through the layered exhibition, they embarked on a profound journey of dialogue with the world, life, and inner spiritual awakening. The group also viewed the film "Spiritual Ecology," which conveys Grand Master Hsin Tao’s core advocacy: "Spirituality is Ecology, Ecology is Spirituality." The experience highlighted how LJM manifests spiritual awakening in every blade of grass and every tree within the sanctuary, inspiring more people to awaken from within and resonate with the ecology.

Grand Master Hsin Tao's Relentless Efforts in Charity, Education, and Practice Enterprises in Myanmar

After a vegan lunch, the group proceeded to Wu Sheng Monastery to meet with Grand Master Hsin Tao. As Lashio, Myanmar, is the Master’s hometown, both sides exchanged warm greetings in their hometown dialect. Welcoming the guests to Ling Jiou Mountain, the Master expressed that being able to practice in Myanmar and reunite in Taiwan were both profoundly joyful and blessed occasions. He presented the visitors with commemorative amulets of the three Golden Buddhas, blessing them on their Buddhist path toward success, fulfillment, and peace, which the three Buddhas respectively represent.

Myanmar is a nation where Buddhism is a way of life for all, and it remains one of the world's premier sanctuaries for the preservation of Early Buddhism. Its monastic communities are renowned for their purity and rigorous practice, serving as a venerable paradigm for all practitioners. The Master shared that his long-standing commitment to charity, education, and spiritual practice in Myanmar springs from a deep desire to serve and give back to his homeland. This lifelong dedication was recently recognized by the Myanmar government with three of its highest honorary awards. The Master humbly stated that these honors belong to the Dharma and to all interconnected causes and conditions, expressing his vow to continue serving humanity so that the Dharma may not only be preserved within the sacred halls, but truly engage with humanity and resonate with the wider world.

The visiting elders shared that they had known of Ling Jiou Mountain while in Yangon and had long aspired to visit Taiwan. Having just offered their vows and prayers before the three Golden Buddhas at Sheng Shan Sanctuary, they were moved that their aspiration to meet Grand Master Hsin Tao was so swiftly fulfilled. This made their journey to Taiwan a truly joyful and cherished memory. In gratitude, they offered their deepest blessings for the Master’s well-being, praying that the Wheel of Dharma continues to turn and that the True Dharma abides in the world forever.

"Compassion knows no borders, as we resonate in the joy of the Dharma." Venerable Ken Huei, Supervisor of Sheng Shan Sanctuary, noted that as the delegation walked through Wu Sheng Monastery, Sheng Shan Sanctuary, and LJM FuCheng, they witnessed more than just architecture and space—they experienced LJM’s core mission: "To Purify the heart and mind with the Dharma, and to connect the world through compassion." It is hoped that this cross-border gathering will further strengthen the Buddhist lineage between Taiwan and Myanmar, fostering a deep Dharma fraternity as we walk the path of practice together, manifesting the profound wisdom and power of the Buddha’s teachings.
