Grand Master Hsin Tao Receives Myanmar's Highest National Honor for Excellence in Dharma and Education

Compassion transcends borders, and education transforms lives! Grand Master Hsin Tao, Founding Abbot of Ling Jiou Mountain (LJM), has long been recognized for his profound dedication to Dharma and education. On March 2, the Master traveled to Myanmar's capital, Naypyidaw, to receive the nation’s highest educational achievement award. General Min Aung Hlaing, Myanmar's leader, presided over the ceremony, honoring the venerable monastics for their exceptional contributions to the field of education.

All Things Inter-reliant in Symbiosis: Grand Master Hsin Tao’s Compassionate Dedication for Universal Peace

In light of the recent turmoil in the Gulf States and the escalating conflicts worldwide, Grand Master Hsin Tao—himself a former war orphan and child soldier—felt a deep resonance with the suffering. Upon receiving the honor, the Master compassionately expressed that the award was not for personal fame, but rather a tribute to all sentient beings. He dedicated the merit of this honor to world peace, ecological harmony, and the safety of the Earth.

Grand Master Hsin Tao emphasized that current conflicts stem from human greed and the illusion of dualism. In war, there are no winners—only endless suffering. He compassionately revealed the truth: "All things are interdependent and mutually symbiotic; only by starting from inner peace can we find the ultimate solution."

Ranking Officials Paid Homage Through Prostration to the Sangha: A Display of Highest Veneration in the Buddhist Nation

The ceremony was conducted with the utmost solemnity and grandeur. On February 28, the national leader, accompanied by heads of various ministries, paid homage to the Sangha in line with Buddhist tradition, demonstrating the highest reverence for the monastic community. Following the award ceremony on March 2, General Min Aung Hlaing personally presided over the offerings to the Sangha, expressing sincere devotion to the award recipients through the most distinguished Buddhist etiquette. This honor not only affirms Grand Master Hsin Tao’s achievements in charity, education, and healthcare over the past two decades but also solidifies the foundation for his future vision of promoting life education.

Deepening Educational Roots in His Homeland: Protecting the Underprivileged with the Light of Compassion

Grand Master Hsin Tao’s commitment to education in Myanmar began with a mission to transform the "rural song of sorrow." Since 2006, through the "Global Family for Love and Peace" (GFLP) and in collaboration with the United Nations, the "Monsoon Day Care" project has provided professional care in impoverished, remote villages by integrating schools with temples. He also developed an eco-friendly farm in Naungmon Village, focusing on teaching sustainable cultivation. In 2016, he established the "Maha Kusala Yama Monastery Sramanena Orphan School," nurturing out-of-school orphans into internationally-minded "Dharma seeds" through trilingual education and Buddhist studies, ensuring that education becomes a beacon of hope for changing their destinies.

Aligning with Universal Visions: Spiritual Ecology Leading the Way to a Sustainable Future

In response to global ecological and peace crises, this educational mission has further evolved into the vision of the "University for Life and Peace" (ULP). With "Spirituality as Ecology" at its core, the initiative collaborates with international scholars and experts to explore the symbiotic relationship between spirituality, technology, and medicine. Having experienced the displacement and turmoil of war in his early years, the Master gained profound insights into life and death amidst the gunfire. After arriving in Taiwan with the military at the age of 13, he vowed to alleviate the suffering of the world, forging those past hardships into a resilient foundation for his lifelong commitment to protecting life.

A Rare Bearer of All Three Buddhist Traditions, Grand Master Hsin Tao Continues the Legacy of Dharma and Education

Grand Master Hsin Tao is a rare bearer of the Triyana—encompassing the three main traditions of Buddhism: Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana. His spiritual achievements and educational dedication have been repeatedly recognized worldwide. Following the receipt of Myanmar's "Outstanding Contribution to the Propagation of Buddhism Award" in 2006 and the "Outstanding Meditation Teacher Award" in 2010, he was conferred the traditional title of 'Agga Maha Kammathānācariya' in 2014—the most prestigious honor for meditation masters in Myanmar. Such milestones were followed by the 2nd-Class National Education Achievement Award in 2023, culminating in the recent 1st-Class honor. Such high-level recognition further advances the development of the "University for Life and Peace" (ULP), providing new momentum for its mission to protect the Earth and writing a new chapter in cross-border Dharma and education.
