LJM promotes Mind Tranquility in Nepal, winning endorsement of Mayor of Sankhu on the concept of spiritual ecology

This spring, a group of over 10 members from the Ling Jiou Mountain (LJM) Global Mind Tranquility Teachers' Group, at the invitation of Master Guangchun from the LJM Milarepa International Meditation Village, traveled to Nepal to hold a Mind Tranquility Emotional Management Teaching Workshop for local teachers. The workshop provided the teachers an opportunity to engage in one-minute meditation through the teaching of the "Three Treasures of Mind Tranquility." The course was very well received by the participants, and Mayor of Sankhu showed his support by attending both the opening and closing ceremonies of the workshop. He highly praised Venerable Hsin Tao's concept of spiritual ecology, recognizing its insightful alignment with current trends.

In order to preserve the sacred sites of the Buddha, Venerable Hsin Tao established the Milarepa Meditation Village in Nepal, transforming it into a meditation area surrounded by forests. Given that the “One Minute of Tranquility'' technique is simple yet profound, it quickly calms the mind and is very practical in application. Master Guangchun actively facilitated the visit of the Mind Tranquility Teachers' Group to Nepal to hold the workshop, receiving strong support from local elders and government officials.

Finding spirituality through Mind Tranquility achieves peace and happiness of the heart

Since its establishment in 2011, the Global Mind Tranquility Teachers' Group has been dedicated to integrating the "One Minute of Tranquility" and emotional management teaching into life education. Venerable Hsin Tao has indicated that the Mind Tranquility Teachers' Group can bring compassionate influence to society, providing people with a space to transform their minds and return to a peaceful state. Before the journey, he also mentioned that spirituality can bring inner stability and compassion. By bringing "One Minute of Tranquility" to Nepal, the group aimed to guide people towards inner peace and happiness, ensuring that their inherent spirituality is not lost in the flood of information.

Mayor Ramesh Napit of Sankhu mentioned that Venerable Hsin Tao's concept of spiritual ecology helps the public become aware of behaviors that harm the environment, advocating the use of scientific methods to mitigate the situation. He also noted that the Venerable's insights and values stem from the inherent spirituality found in ancient beliefs worldwide. Spiritual ecology awakens us to the awareness of our mutual interdependence.

Master Guangchun served as the instructor for the spiritual ecology course at the Mind Tranquility Teachers' Workshop. She combined the current global situation with Venerable Hsin Tao's life journey to share with the participants the origin of Mind Tranquility's arrival in Nepal. She mentioned that Mind Tranquility can help students focus on their studies, and that one-minute meditation is like planting a seed of tranquility. This is a gift from Venerable Hsin Tao to Nepal, and she hopes the teachers will assist in promoting it.

Does Nepal still need Mind Tranquility?

Master Baochi, the guiding master of the Global Mind Tranquility Promotion Association, led the team to Nepal this time. The journey was filled with anticipation and excitement, but also significant pressure. In a short period, 12 Mind Tranquility teachers were inspired to volunteer at their own expense, all dedicated to fulfilling Venerable Hsin Tao's vision.

Hosting a two-day, one-night workshop in Nepal for the first time, the LJM faced challenges due to lack of experience in organizing events abroad and unfamiliarity with local language and culture. Many people even asked, "The people in Nepal seem very tranquil; do they still need Mind Tranquility?" After multiple meetings and full support from the Milarepa Meditation Village, the organizer conducted a survey and discovered that the issues participants hoped to address, such as student indiscipline and how to focus better on learning, were quite similar to those in Taiwan. This realization brought a sense of reassurance, enabling the host to successfully replicate over ten years of Mind Tranquility teaching and promotion experience from Taiwan to Nepal.

The LJM master also discovered that in Nepal, Mind Tranquility can be approached from the perspective of exploring the inner nature, whereas in Taiwan, it is more suitable to approach it from the angle of "managing emotions" to explore the mind. The mantra for "One Minute of Tranquility"—"Take a deep breath, join your palms, relax, calm down, and let your mind return to its origin"—is a highly effective step for guiding people in becoming aware of and managing their emotions. She also shared case studies illustrating how the use of the Tranquility Bracelet successfully helped in shifting thoughts, changing situations, and transforming outcomes.

An example of an auditor becoming a graduate also greatly encouraged the teachers. Raju Shrestha, the president of the LJM Nepal Dharma Protector Society, initially attended as a guest but was so captivated by the engaging course content and interactive activities that he actively joined the class, participated throughout, and received a graduation certificate.

Power of aspiration is the greatest driving force behind propagation of Mind Tranquility

Master Baochi said that Venerable Hsin Tao's advocacy for the Mind Tranquility movement and the confidence in this vision provided her with tremendous strength to undertake this mission. Over the past 12 years of promoting Mind Tranquility teaching, she has witnessed the testimonies of thousands of Mind Tranquility teachers in Taiwan and overseas. This journey has reinforced her belief that the Mind Tranquility Teachers' Workshop can fulfill Venerable Hsin Tao's expectations. Planting the seed of Mind Tranquility in Nepal is a precious and extraordinary achievement.

Both the journey of returning to the nature of the mind through Mind Tranquility and the meditation for rediscovering one’s true essence are pursuits that transcend the material world in their quest for spirituality. Venerable Hsin Tao stated that spirituality is synonymous with compassion, and only those with spirituality possess compassion. Therefore, spiritually awakened individuals should use compassion to care for all life forms and ecosystems. The Milarepa Meditation Village in Nepal, where indigenous flora and fauna are respected as "sacred realms," and the Global Mind Tranquility Team, dedicated to promoting the Mind Tranquility movement, exemplify the spirit of spiritual ecology. The LJM in Nepal coexists harmoniously with nature, embodying the essence of spiritual ecology.

The teachers' expedition to Nepal this time is a promotion of educational concepts, blending Mind Tranquility, meditation, and spiritual ecology—three distinct yet harmonious philosophies. They intertwine in practice, each showcasing its unique virtues on Nepal's spiritually rich soil, contributing positively to humanity.
