Inauguration of Museum of World Religions In Taipei
2001, (At the age of 53)
- In January, Master Hsin-tao received initiation from His Holiness Mozha Rinpoche, from Nyingma and Kathok School of Tibetan Buddhism and got a dhamma name as Bajiduojie; The leaders of “World Islamic League” visited Ling Jiou Mountain. The Muslim leaders presented gift of Kaba’s Kishiwa, which is a sacred cloth from Mecca, Kaaba, and other cultural relics. This is the first time when Kaaba sacred cloth has been given to non-Islamic organizations.
- March, after hearing the news that the Buddha’s statues, in Afghanistan, were destroyed by Taliban, Master Hsin-tao established “Sacred Monuments Protection Committee” in New York.
- In April, went to Japan and held meeting with journalists to promote “Sacred Monuments Protection Committee”.
- In August, organized Shui-lu Mahāpujā. After the Mahāpujā, Master Hsin-tao went to Bosnia to meet local US Ambassador, Catholic, Jewish, Orthodox, Islam and other religious leaders, and examined the historical holy sites damaged areas.
- November 9, inaugurated the “Museum of World Religions”, at Yong-he District, New Taipei City. There were one hundred twenty delegates from 38 countries, all over the world, including religious leaders of every religion around the globe, museum experts and historians, archeologists and scholars, participated in this event. The inauguration day, November 9, 2001(Calendar 9/11,link in memorial of 911 attacks) was declared as “World Religious Harmony Day”. From Nov. 9 to 11, the International conference on “Global Sacred Monuments Protection Committee” was organized in Grand Hotel, Taipei, Taiwan.
