Participated In “Global Buddhist Congregation 2011”
2011, (At the age of 63)
- In January, The abbot of Fo Guang Shan Venerable Master Xin-Pei visited Ling Iiou Mountain and shared experiences of meditation retreat with Master Hsin-tao. In the same month, Venerable Master Ke-xiang, the abbot of Qi-ta temple, Ningbo ,with Sangha members and other delegations visited Ling Jiou Mountain.
- In February, The “World Islamic League” invited Master Hsin-tao to participate “2011 Dialogue on Collective Human Values”, in Taipei, and delivered his lecture on “Religious Organizations and Human Conflict” and conducted religious exchange with the Secretary-General of the League H.E. Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdul Mohsin AI-Turki.
- In March, Master Hsin-tao appealed to all Buddhist disciples and followers all over the world to recite Mahā-Karuna Mantra (Dhāraṇī Great Compassion Mantra) for the victims of earthquake and tsunami in Japan on March, 11. In the same month, went to Beijing for cultural and religious exchange and met with Mr. Qi Xiao-fei, the deputy director of the State Bureau of Religious Affairs, China, and Venerable Chuan-yin, president of Chinese Buddhist Association of China and other elders.
- In April, together with Vietnamese Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, and MWR co-organized “Do not Look at Me” Zen calligraphy exhibition in Museum of World Religions,Taipei. In the same month, received invitation from Mr. Michael Von Brück, director of Department of Religion, University of Munich, he guided the practice of Chan, and delivered lecture on “The Social Responsibilities of Chinese Chan Meditation” at Nymphenburg.
- In May, led his disciples to Zhejiang Puji Monastery at Putuo Shan, presided over the opening ceremony of “Recasting Pilu Guanyin Bodhisattva” and taught Guanyin supernatural power dhamma – Silence Observation. In the same month, completed another cross-strait religious and cultural exchange by enshrining Pilu Guanyin Statue of Putuo Shan in Ling Jiou Mountain.
- In August, at the Da Sung Shan, Baizhang Zen Temple Jiang-xi, Master Hsin-tao conducted Shui-lu Mahāpujā, Which symbolizes the harmony of Chan (Zen) and Shui-lu Mahāpujā mutual combination without obstacles.
- In September, DAO Shuren,vice-President of the Buddhist Association of China invited Master Hsin-tao to participate in “The Returning of Loyal Soul”, an activity organized in the memory of Chinese Expeditionary Army War. In this memorial ceremony Master Hsin-tao recited prayer for the peace of all soul of army who died in the war.
- October, Master Hsin-tao was invited to deliver dhamma talk and conduct silent meditation in Liu-rong Monastery, where the Sixth Patriarch of Zen master, Master Hui-neng was ordained.
- In November, celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Museum of World Religions (MWR), took place in “International Conference Hall of Taipei World Trade Center”. This event was named as “A Night of Mind Peace”. The aim of this celebration was to promote love and peace. Simultaneously in cooperation with Beijing Capital Museum, MWR organized the Buddhist Art and Culture exhibition on “An Avatakamaskā World of Wisdom”. This is the first time for the Museum of World Religions and the Beijing’s Capital Museum to join together for an exhibition. The 102 pieces presented in this exhibition are on loan from Beijing’s Capital Museum, and represent both Chinese and Tibetan Buddhism. The exhibition includes statues, embroidery, paintings, and thangkas in a wide variety of styles, indicating the important role of Buddhist art in China. In the same month, the “Ashoka mission”, Indian Buddhist organization, invited Master Hsin-tao to participate in “Global Buddhist Congregation 2011” in New Delhi, India. In this he delivered his speech on “How to Resolve Violence and Conflict”.
