Attended “An Exercise In Interreligious Understanding” Forum

2012, (At the age of 64)

  • In February, Master Hsin-tao was invited to participate in “Stories of Practical Holiness: “An Exercise in Interreligious Understanding” Forum, organized by Notre Dame University, Chicago. In this forum Master Hsin-tao delivered his lecture on “Self-Transformation World – A Buddhist Spiritual Story”. During the forum period he met with Dr. Sullivan, the director of Religious Study Center, Harvard University, Ralph Appelbaum, the founder of RAA, Howard Sulkin the former chief executive CPWR and current CEO Dirk Ficca, and other distinguished guests.
     
  • In March, led the Sangha members to India for pilgrimage to 9 Buddhist sacred places. With Hua-yan Repentance, Chan (Meditation) practice, enriched spirit, members paid respect to all Buddhist pilgrimage places in India. Also visited the local government of Bihar to request a piece of land to construct Ling Jiou Mountain Stupa and signed a land allocation agreement. Afterwards conducted tranquility dialogue with Indian spiritual master, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the founder of, The Art of Living Foundation (AOL).
     
  • In April, Master Hsin-tao conducted "Million Mind at Peace on The Earth”, vows for 21 days retreat on millions recitation of Mahā-Karunā mantra (Dhāraṇī Great Compassion Mantra) at the Wu Sheng Monastery, Ling Jiou Mountain.. Disciples from all directions participated this activity. All wish the safe, peaceful and harmonious earth. On the final day of the retreat, April 22, which is also the Global Earth Day, everybody recited the Mahā-Karunā mantra for 1,323,661 times and transferred the merits for the peaceful, safety and harmonious life on the earth. In the same month, he was invited to participate in “3rd World Buddhist Forum – Harmonious World, One Will One Way” in Hong Kong, altogether with cross-strait four regions. In this conference, the Buddhist leaders, Buddhist scholars and experts from more than sixty countries participated. During this conference he had a special interview with Phoenix media.
     
  • In July, was invited to participate in “13th Muslim Buddhist Dialogue – The Love and Forgiveness of Asian Religions”, in Jakarta, Indonesia. Master Hsin-tao delivered lecture on ”The Task and Responsibility of Religion in a time of Globalization” were highlighting the fact that the survival of human beings and the survival of the earth in the current globalized world are faced with many new challenges and crises. He also emphasized the need for religions to ask for forgiveness for wounds inflicted in the past. In closing session, Master Hsin-tao he led the participants to practice Chan (Zen).
     
  • In September, Master Hsin-tao was invited by Fetzer Institute Foundation, went to Assisi island, Italy to participate in “A Global Gathering : The Pilgrimage of Love and Forgiveness”. In this international Conference delivered his lecture and led the participants “One Minute Peace Chan”, to convey the concept of “Peaceful Mind, Peaceful World”. In this period, he gave a special interview in religious magazine of Michigan’s (USA). In the same month, he was invited by Yunnan Buddhist Institute, here he delivered his lecture on “Inner Observation to Avatakamaska World”, and conducted Chan meditation. At the same time Yunnan Buddhist Association also invited him to participate in Shui-lu Mahāpujā organized by Yunnan Teng-chong Lai Feng Monastery. On the same day, Master Hsin-tao also visited Tengchong Military cemetery to pay tribute to the souls of expeditionary forces. In between, there was a major earthquake in Yiliang, Yunnan province in China. Master Hsin-tao on behalf of Ling Jiou Mountain donated to Yunnan Buddhist Association to help the victims.
     
  • In October, Master Hsin-tao was invited to conduct Chan (Zen) meditation classes by various Buddhist institutes in China, such as, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Henan and other places in China.
     
  • In December, whole Ling Jiou Mountain celebrates initiation of “Thousand Hand, Thousand Eyes the Great Compassionate Avalokiteśhvara Bodhisattva Dhamma Accomplishment” Consecration Ceremony.  In the same month, there was “Maya Cultural Festival” on Yucatan Peninsula, which debunked the rumor of  doomsday, to release the fears and panic of an impending apocalypse, Yucatan Government invited Mater Hsin-tao to participate in a way of recording a video to bless the world. In the same month, MWR took all religious artifacts and cultural things to Beijing Capital Museum for exhibition which was its first abroad exhibition.
