2013, (at the age of 65)
- In February, Master Hsin-tao invited religious representatives attended “Religious Blessing for New Year 2013” organized by MWR. After blessing ceremony everybody prayed for world peace and for no disaster.
- In March, Master Hsin-tao went to Beijing, China to participate in thanks giving and closing ceremony of “ Religious Art and Culture Exhibition from Taipei MWR”. Also met with Chinese Buddhist Association members thanked them for their assistance in the exhibition. In the same month, went Beijing and Shanghai to conduct “Hsin-tao Pu Cha Party” (Tea Zen Party), and after this, he moved to Wu-xi city to conduct a 3-days Chan (Zen) meditation.
Note :
In 2011, the Beijing Capital Museum reached an agreement to exchange exhibitions with the Taipei Museum of World Religions. In November of the same year, it held the exhibition “An Avatamsaka World of Wisdom: Buddhist Art from the Beijing Capital Museum” at the Taipei Museum of World Religion as the latter marked its 10th anniversary.
In 2012, the Taipei Museum of World Religions presented “Religious Art and Culture from the Taipei Museum of World Religions” at the Capital Museum, featuring religious culture and art. With exhibition as the bridge, the two Museums joined hands not only in promoting exchange among the world of culture, art, and museums, but to also advance cross-strait communication.
- In April, led the Sangha to Buddhist pilgrimage in Bhutan, during this visit, Master Hsin-tao walked around the pagoda, Meditated, and offered Hundred-Offering to Guan-yin (Avalokiteśvara) and conducted other religious activities to enrich everyone’s spirit. During this time he also gained blessing from National preceptor. Also visited His Holiness Seventh Nankai Ningbo Rinpoche and accepted blessing from him.
- In May, on the invitation of professor Michael Von Brück, director department of religions, University of Munich, Germany, Master Hsin-tao conducted a 10-days dhamma teaching program and Chan (Zen) Meditation in Germany.
- In June, Ling Jiou Mountain started 21 days retreat on "One Million Mahā-Karunā Mantra recitations", Master Hsin-tao preached Guan-Yin Bodhisattva (Avalokiteśvara) dhamma to practioners and he himself conducted Eleven-faced Avalokiteśvara “Empowerment Ceremony (Jalābhishek)” . In the same month, he led the Sangha members to bring and guard the Tara Guany-Yin statue to Putuo Mountain, the replica statue of Tara Guan-Yin Bodhisattva of Ling Jiou Mountain given to Puto Mountain draws a symbolic that cross-Straits Buddhist at deeper exchange . Also organized blessing Mahāpuja in association with Venerable Master Dao-chi Thera and Ven.Wei-hang, at Nan-hai Guan-Yin square. This Mahāpuja was named as “Guan-Yin Dana Spread Everywhere”, which literary mean the blessing water of Guan-Yin Bodhisattva spread all over the universe. Venerable Master Dao-chi and Venerable Wei-hang delivered the dhamma and talked on the further cultural and religious exchange cross-strain.
- In July, met with Thailand Tiger Cave Bhikkhu Ajahn Jumnien Silsettso in Wu Sheng Monastery of Ling Jiou Mountain. In the same month, celebrated 30th anniversary of Ling Jiou Mountain, all the Sangha members “Set Chan (Zen) Spirit of LJM, Pass down the Lights of Heart on”. Master Hsin-tao encouraged everybody extended their Bodhicitta, walking the Bodhisattva path, pass down the Buddha's heart light. At the end of the month, conducted “2013 Peace Movement: Concert for Peace of Mind” in the National Theater & Concert Hall Main Plaza. This concert was organized in order to share the joy of inner peace in music with public, and conducted a 9-Mins Chan (Zen) Meditation.
- In August, attended the Museum of World Religions " The knowing smile; the life of the Buddha " exhibition opening press conference. The auspicious origins of this exhibition lie in the Buddha’s Flower Sermon and Mahākāśyapa’s smile, two thousand years ago, on Vulture Peak. As Chan was passed down from the Buddha to our patriarchs, it was also transmitted from India to China. Chan adapts effortlessly to suit every time and every place. Chan subtly descends into our everyday lives. Participants were, Venerable Jie-xing, Jingshan Monastery in Hangzhou City, Master Hsin-tao, Venerable abbot of Fo Guang Shan, Master Guo-Hui Deputy abbot of Dharma Drum Mountain and other Buddhist representatives. The World of Chan Special Exhibition has been mounted on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the founding of the monastery at Ling Jiou Mountain in order to give a deep look inside the world of Chan.In the same month, for the first time “Theravāda Lohan Altar” was established in Sheilu Mahāpuja carryout ritual heritage of triyana, Theravāda, Mahāyāna and Vajrayāna. At the end of the month, Master Hsin-tao visited Fo Guang Shan to inherit Master Hsing Yun lineage. It was a continuation of the lineage of Fo Guang Shan, where forty years ago Master Hsin-tao was ordained.
- In September, Master Hsin-tao was invited as a keynote speaker on the issue of “the spirit of benevolence and forgiveness expressed in Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism”. In response to the theme of the 2013 International Day of Peace, “Education for Peace”, the Global Family for Love and Peace (GFLP) and Peking University co-organized a Forum on “Love and Forgiveness: Confucian, Buddhist, and Taoist Dialogue with Contemporary Society.” The forum was co-hosted by the Museum of World Religions (MWR) and the Ling Jiou Mountain Buddhist Society in Taiwan, the U.S. based Fetzer Institute, and the Center for Buddhist Studies at Peking University. As a part of the Week of Global Interreligious Dialogue, the forum sought to rediscover and discuss enduring spiritual values in Chinese culture as contributions to multicultural harmonious coexistence. In the same month, awarded by “2nd Benefactor of Buddhism Award” from Thai Royal Buddhist monastery Wat Bowonniwet Vihāra Committee.
- In October, Zen Buddhism temple of Linj (Rinzai) school Myoshin-ji, Japan, send Nishimura Eshin the former president of Hanazono University visited Master Hsin-tao. Same month, Awarded certificates to “2013 Global honorary board of directors” members at the Taipei International Convention Center. In the same month, he was invited to participate in “The 2nd Chinese Buddhism forum”, delivered the lecture named “Transfer into sanctification: a transformation from humanistic Buddhism to a life Buddhism”.
- In November , Master Hsin-tao and Korea Monk Suan presented their Chan (Zen) teaching and Art marked the World Museum of Religion Chan (Zen) 12th anniversary a Chan phenomenon. In the same month received the British Sikh representative Arvinder Singh Garcha two handwritten pages of nearly century-old Sikh holy book. Same month, recruited Shangas to raise material aid and rescued for Haiyan typhoon which caused heavy disaster in the Philippines.
- In December, Master Hsin-tao initials a purifying ceremony for the Seven-gem Jade Buddha and the Light-emitting Reclining Buddha. In the same month, led disciples to Myanmar (Burma) pilgrim and hold Short-term Theravāda monk retreat (short-term ordination) in Ling Jiou Mountain International Chan (Zen) meditation, Yangon. In the end of the month, he was invited to Formosa Institute delivered the speech of “Buddhist Islam dialogue, the past, present and future” mentioned Myanmar (Burma) as an example, the conflict of Islam and Buddhist, what is the conflict about and how to resolve it .
